About the Teacher
My name is Victor Hall I am very well versed in popular music, including arranging, writing and recording. I have worked as a professional pianist and organist in night clubs, and hotels. I also play piano for my church. Victor will customize the lessons for each student. Victor makes music fun while at the same time teaching the skills and practices needed to become an accomplished musician.
Victor believes that learning music should be a joyful adventure at every age, for children, teens and adults of all levels. He is very patient and approachable and loves to participate in the learning process and answers any question the student would ask.
Children are delightful since they are so full of wonder and look at the challenges of playing in such a unique way. They are open, insightful and ready to absorb the music. You can't find a better student than that. In three to four weeks they should be able to play the first tune that every kid still goes crazy to play on the piano: "Mary had a Little Lamb".
My mother was my inspiration and at six years old I loved hearing and seeing her play the Piano and Organ. I could see her fingers brushing across the keys and the amazing music flowing forth. It seemed like magic. I had to learn to do it, too. I was absolutely captivated. From then on I played and learned every day. My aunt sent me to a private teacher who opened the world of Jazz to me. I taught myself actually with some coaching from my mother who played gospel at our church on the organ. By age 18 I was entertaining at many local night clubs. I toured with Little Anthony as band leader and conductor. We also opened for Bob Marley & The Wailers California Tour. Victor Hall the Band leader for Kansas City Expressway who were the opening acts for Stevie Wonder, the Isely Brothers, Santana to name a few. He has played with many named artist including Ike & Tina Turner and toured Japan with Starlite Pacific as a band leader.
- Staying disciplined, interested and motivated
- Learning to read the notes
- Understanding Rests
- Practicing on a regular basis
- Note reading and theory, having the student say and play the notes
- Practicing: We encourage the use of CD's of songs they like, for rhythm. I schedule a recital or other performance goals, this really helps them to practice!
- Staying Interested : They learn the styles and songs they like and I work to make it a creative experience
